Fanfare | Grade 5 | 4’30” | Score example (pdf)
The title, ‘Some are like water’, comes from the lyrics of a song by Alphaville: 'Forever Young'. It's a metaphor for two ‘fluent’ composers (idiomatic fluent..), whom are a big example to a lot of composers: Olivier Messiaen and Igor Stravinsky. In this composition you can hear cel technique (Stravinsky) and a specific kind of colors and lyrical lines (à la Messiaen), within my personal compositional style. There is also a very small musical gesture from the song by Alphaville in the middle section of this composition.
